On The Board

David Ortiz (BOS)

He homered in the third inning, tripled to tie the game in the ninth inning, and belted a walk-off double in the eleventh frame. The designated hitter for the Boston Red Sox is the oldest player since 1900 to connect on a double, a triple, and a home run in one game.
For Big Papi, it was the 600th double of his career (MLB Rank #15) and he became just the third player in the Majors history with 500+ home runs and 600+ doubles.

Extra: Stephen Strasburg (Washington Nationals) got the win to improve his record to 6-0, leaving just 3 pitchers unbeaten this season with 6+ wins. He is the second pitcher to start off the season for the team with a 6-0 or better mark. He improved his career record to 60-37 and reached 60 wins in fewer decisions than any other pitcher in franchise history.
