On The Board
Clayton Kershaw (LAD)
He threw a shutout fanning 14 batters without walking any, on track to defeat the San Diego Padres 1-0. It is the thirteenth in the career of the Los Angeles Dodgers lefty, no other active pitcher has more shutouts since he threw his first in the 2010 campaign. He became the third pitcher with multiple shutouts with those numbers (14+ K and no free passes).
He is also the fifth pitcher in MLB history with 15+ games with 10+ strikeouts without any walks and leads all active pitchers with 10+ strikeout games (45).
Kershaw in his last nine starts against San Diego has a 6-0 record with an ERA of 0.98 (Since 2013).
Extra: The Pittsburgh Pirates lost a home game in the eleventh inning after being down and having tied the score in three consecutive frames (7, 8, and 9) against the Cincinnati Reds. The team made the most errors in a game this season (4) and did not complete some routine plays that helped the defeat.
They are the only home club that has lost after erasing deficits in those consecutive innings, but it is also the third time that a team is defeated that way since 1900.
