No-Hitter in an Opening Day Game

1940 / April 16
Bob Feller
Cleveland Indians
This is the only hurler to pitch a game without hits nor runs to begin an MLB season.
Feller began the year in impeccable fashion, the one that would be the best season of his career, where he would conquer the pitching Triple Crown.

In 1940, he also achieved his career-high mark of 27 victories (had 6 seasons of 20+ triumphs).

Although he was unable to pitch throughout more than 3 seasons because of his military service (1942-1945), he finished his career with 266 wins (MLB Rank #37). Feller was a member of the 1948 World Series champion team, participated in 8 All-Star Games, and is a Hall of Famer.

294 games of no hit-no run ball have been thrown in the Major Leagues.

On 38 different occasions, a pitcher has won the Triple Crown.

77 hurlers are found in the Hall of the Immortals.
